Merus Power and CATL to collaborate on battery energy storage in Northern Europe

In brief

Merus Power and CATL have signed a strategic cooperation agreement for the delivery of approximately 3 GWh of battery energy storage system solutions to Nordic Europe. The deal builds on a three-year collaboration in which Merus Power has already delivered around 500 MWh of BESS projects in Northern Europe using CATL battery technology. The companies say the agreement strengthens their position in a fast-growing storage market shaped by electrification, renewable energy expansion and the rising need for flexibility.

The planned solutions will combine CATL’s battery technology with Merus Power’s Finnish-made power electronics, grid inverter technology, cyber-secure control and protection systems, and system delivery capabilities. Merus Power said the cooperation supports its strategy of solving critical infrastructure challenges linked to the energy transition, while CATL said the partnership will help deploy safe, reliable and high-quality storage systems suited to Northern Europe’s demanding weather, grid and cybersecurity conditions.
