OX2 completes sale of 77 MW Romanian wind farm

In brief

OX2 has completed the sale of the ready-to-build 77 MW Urleasca wind farm in south-eastern Romania to Norwegian renewable energy company Scatec. The project will use 11 Nordex N175/6.X turbines and has secured grid access through an agreement with Romanian transmission system operator Transelectrica. OX2 will continue to oversee the entire construction phase, which is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with commissioning planned for the second half of 2028.

Once operational, the wind farm is expected to generate approximately 244 GWh of electricity annually, enough to supply around 71,000 households, while avoiding an estimated 101,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide-equivalent emissions each year. The project holds a 15-year contract for difference with the Romanian state covering 43 MW of its installed capacity. The transaction is OX2’s third in Romania, where the company has a development and construction portfolio of approximately 1.5 GW.
