Renewco Power receives planning permission for Hare Hill solar and BESS project

In brief

Renewco Power has secured planning permission on appeal for the Hare Hill solar and battery energy storage project in County Durham, United Kingdom. Developed with Locogen, the scheme will combine a 31.5 MW solar array with a 10.35 MW embedded battery storage facility. Once operational, it is expected to generate enough renewable electricity to supply approximately 17,600 homes each year and avoid an estimated 13,050 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

The successful appeal marks a major step forward for the project and reflects cooperation across Renewco Power’s wider development team. Locogen’s Planning and Environment consultancy led the planning application, while the appeal team also included David Hardy of CMS and Andy Cook of Pegasus Group.
